Like most things in our life, we want to do them in true bucket list style – decorating our house is no different. I decided to print some of my favorite photos on canvas and hang them as art around our house, and then add one large statement piece to each room. Not every piece is new, like the secondhand bed I purchased online, but every piece is brilliant and makes me happy in some way. That’s how our new dining table from Newell Furniture makes me feel. We envisioned hosting many dinner parties at a large table made of wood and that’s what I found while shopping downtown at Newell Furniture.
The JASPER dining table is supported by four thick legs made of solid Malaysian Oak. The table top is made of engineered wood with veneer. It’s a solid table that’s built to last and it’s large enough to host another family, yet still gives us room to add additional accent pieces to the dining room. I fell in love with the thick legs on the JASPER table because they reminded me of the wood on tall ship, Bark Europa when I was sailing to Antarctica. They were the inspiration for the art in the room.
I chose two photos from my trip and printed them on canvas to add personal memories and conversation pieces around the room. Every time I walk into the dining room, I’m reminded of one of the greatest adventures of my life.
Two accent chairs are in the corner of the room in case we need extra seating and I covered them with a small fur rug to add texture to the room.
Now, I need the perfect rug to complete the dining room. At first, I considered a warm neutral color, but I may go for something a little bolder. The above West Elm rug gives even more texture and depth to the room and it may be exactly what I envisioned.
With the dining room almost finished, I look forward to moving on to the living room. Newell Furniture has some bold, bright couches that have been calling my name.
