Now that Athena is in school, I’ve been spending a lot more time at home. We decided to move to Montreal and create a life here that includes daily schedules and routines rather than being on the road full time and having a different plan every day of the week. It’s been an adjustment but these five companies make our new home life so much better and easier.
5 Companies that Make Home Life Better
Number One – IKEA
There’s no denying that I love IKEA. Some of the products are made of cheap wood and putting them together can be a testament to any relationship, but they have so much to offer at such reasonable prices that I can always find some reason to visit IKEA. Every room in our house has at least one item from IKEA.
Number Two – Casper
While I love IKEA, there are some things that I’d rather find elsewhere, including a mattress. I’d spare no expense for the most comfortable sleep. After more than 30 engineering improvements and nearly half a million happy customers, the Casper mattress had a reputation we could trust. It’s more breathable and comfortable than ever and ships to Montreal. With a 100 night trial and free return pickup, we ordered The Casper Classic to help give us the sleep we need.
Number Three – Newell Furniture
IKEA quality is great for things like bookcases and I love their couches because the covers can easily be replaced, but when I want high quality items like a dining room table that I want to last, I shop at Newell Furniture. The JASPER dining table is supported by four thick legs made of solid Malaysian Oak. The table top is made of engineered wood with veneer. It’s a solid table that’s built to last and it’s large enough to host another family, yet still gives us room to add additional accent pieces to the dining room.
Number Four – SCANPAN
Cooking more now comes with the territory and there are no pots and pans I swear by more than SCANPAN. Cord had one classic SCANPAN fry pan that he purchased a few years ago and we used it for everything. I was so obsessed with how easily it wiped out and how well it held heat that I purchased an entire set. They feature a patented nonstick coating that enables fat free frying. The pan’s handle is attached using a patented locking system that doesn’tt use screws or rivets. This ensures that the handle doesn’t become loose over time. The entire Classic series is ovenproof up to 500°F.
Number Five – Danby Appliances
A large part of our home life includes playing games and watching movies in the family room. Since it’s in the basement, we wanted a fridge almost as much as we wanted a tv down there. No one wants to get up for a drink or snacks in the middle of a movie or game. The Silhouette fridge has seamless door design, an ergonomic handle and a finished black cabinet to make it look as flawless on the outside as it is functional on the inside. It’s 5.5 cu.ft and holds enough Pepsi, Fireball, and Keith’s beer to be like Charlie’s Chocolate Factory of fridges.
Number Five+ – Mazda
Ok, ok; I know this one isn’t a home life example but I would lose my mind if we didn’t get away at least once in a while. This year, I partnered with Mazda Canada to test drive each vehicle in their lineup and it has been getting us out of the house and on the road. We’ve been discovering new towns and cities near Montreal and loving the possibilities within driving distance of the city.
