Growing up in a small town in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Chevrolet was the only way to go. I saw them everywhere I went and they were synonymous with power and quality; they even showed up in country songs. With exclusive technologies like OnStar, the highest quality, and tech innovations, Chevy is one of North America’s favorite and trusted car companies. After a recent Chevy test drive, I’ve come up with 5 things I love about the 2018 Chevy Tahoe.
5 things I love about the 2018 Chevy Tahoe
Number One – A Smooth Ride
It’s hard to believe that the Chevy Tahoe isn’t the biggest SUV on the road, yet it’s not even the biggest SUV that Chevy makes. It still manages to pick up speed smooth and fast. It has quick acceleration with V-8 powertrain and all-wheel drive. Direct Injection helps boost power and Active Fuel Management deactivates four cylinders when extra power is not needed. While driving on the highway, I passed a car going up hill and I didn’t even feel a drag in the engine. The Tahoe doesn’t just look the part, it has the engine under the hood to back it up.
Additionally, with all that power, I was grateful to have Adaptive Cruise Control, allowing the Tahoe to automatically follow a detected vehicle at the driver-selected following gap, reducing the need to frequently brake and accelerate. By setting the Adaptive Cruise Control on the highway, I didn’t need to worry about speeding tickets or adjusting the speed every time I approached a vehicle. The smooth ride continued with almost no effort.
Number Two – OnStar
Chevrolet OnStar is amazing. It will keep you safe and connected, offering a host of services designed to keep you informed and in control during unexpected situations.
Did you ever wish you could access the internet while on the road? In the 2018 Chevy Tahoe, you can. 4G LTE with build-in Wi-Fi hotspot is part of OnStar. This technology provides the ability to connect up to seven compatible devices and your vehicle to the Internet. During long drives, or any drives at all really, Athena is best when she is entertained. With the build-in Wi-Fi hotspot, she can watch Netflix on her iPads or sing along to YouTube videos.
Another OnStar service is the Remote Link mobile app.
Once you have your app installed, you can complete the following tasks anywhere you have a wireless signal:
-Remote start your vehicle (with factory Remote Start installed)
-Lock and unlock your vehicle’s doors
-Control your in-vehicle 4G Wi-Fi
-Monitor fuel & oil levels, as wells as tire pressure
-Get in touch with an OnStar advisor
Number Three – Tech-Savvy Interior
Not only does the Chevy Tahoe offer 4G LTE with build-in Wi-Fi hotspot but it also offers up to seven available USB ports, a 110-volt three-prong outlet, and a wireless charging station. The 2018 Chevy Tahoe offers everything you need to keep devices charged and connected on the go.
Number Four – Interior Space
One of the most important features of any vehicle is the interior space and comfort for the driver and passengers. The Tahoe treats passengers to cozy seats with front bucket seats and second-row captain’s chairs. The Tahoe’s list of standard features includes tri-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats.
My brother is a tall man at 6’1″ and he said that the Chevy Tahoe had the most comfortable driver seat with exceptional space and head room without limiting viability.
In the back seat, Athena had all the comforts of the front row with all the safety of the second row. Her plush captain’s seat reclined and was heated. She could control the temperature as well, allowing her to be comfortable in all settings.
Finding a place to put all that technology is an important feature of interior space. The super-sized console in the Chevy Tahoe provides enough room for a laptop or other large items. There is plenty of door storage for water bottles or maps and the touch-screen slides up to reveal a password-protected area behind the display with space for cellphones, wallets, or other valuables.
Number Five – Eyes Everywhere
Driving the 2018 Chevy Tahoe is like having extra eyes in all directions of the vehicle. The rear vision camera displays a view of the area immediately behind the vehicle on the 8-inch, color touch-screen —making it easier to see what’s behind you while backing up. The Front and Rear Park Assist is ideal when pulling into a parking spot. It warns you if an object is too close. The rear vision camera automatically displays a live image of the area behind the vehicle on the Chevrolet MyLink screen after you shift into Reverse. The available Safety Alert Driver Seat uses directional vibration pulses from the seat cushion instead of audible crash avoidance alerts to help indicate the direction of potential collision threats. The Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning system monitors road lines and will gently turn the steering wheel if the vehicle begins changing lanes without the use of a turn signal.
With advanced technology, powerful performance, and premium comfort, the Chevrolet Tahoe deserves attention. It puts all the comforts of home on the road and within your fingertips.
