I love Ubud, Bali. I’ve just returned from my 3rd trip there. Last time, I was delighted to take a peek at designer Linda Garland’s estate not too far from where we were staying. This time, I had the treat of visiting Soulshine, a gorgeous space inspired by Michael Franti and Carla Swanson.
Soulshine Bali is a villa, retreat oasis and cafe, nestled between stunning rice field terraces of the village of Ubud and the Tukad Bembeng river. A chic and playful boutique getaway, Soulshine is the perfect escape for a romantic vacation, rejuvenating yoga retreat, or an unforgettable wedding or family gathering.
I dropped in on a yoga class there and was in awe of the landscape and impeccable design. A fusion of modern and global style, every space encouraged tranquility. From the cool green tones of the furnishings to decorative Balinese wood carvings, the interiors seamlessly reflected the natural beauty surrounding them.
Best Impressions
*Balance of materials: stone, wood, cement all participated harmoniously
*Spa-like bathroom: so spacious that a pond was built into the floors
*Open plan design: the long dining table overlooks rice terraces in one direction and a gorgeous open kitchen in the other
Had I more time, I would have photographed so much more. I am curious about the rooms…the bedding, the en suite bathrooms. Next time.
