The beachfront, open-air tub at Garden Island Resort will forever be ingrained in my memory. After a day of hiking to waterfalls and traveling to islands, the spa was the most welcomed treat. I filled the tub with hot water, bubbles, and flowers and relaxed for over an hour.
The entire concept was completely foreign; I was outside, exposed to the elements yet naked only covered by the warm, bubbly water from the tub. It was private but I felt somewhat naughty all the same. It was liberating.
When I finally emerged from the tub and slid under the bed covers, all of the strain on my muscles and the tiredness from the day had been washed away. I was engulfed in the bed and slept so soundly that the blankets hadn’t moved when I woke up several hours later.
The moon was still alive in the sky and I was confused if it was day or night. Even 6 am is calming in Fiji. I walked the lush grounds before meeting the group for breakfast. I was ready for a new day in Fiji!
