From the vast, timeless sands of Wadi Rum, Jordan to 12,000 feet above Nadi, Fiji, where the sky and water blur the lines of reality, these five epic adventure journeys should be on everyone’s bucket list. Which ones have you experienced?
1. Wadi Rum – Jordan
This is a stupendous, timeless place. Here, it is the weather and winds that have carved the imposing, towering skyscrapers of sand and stone. Ride a camel like Lawrence of Arabia, hire a four-wheel drive, and arrive at a Bedouin Camp for a night under the stars. The sunsets in Wadi Rum alone are worth the journey.
2. Estosha National Park, Namibia
With a salt pan so large that it can be seen from space, this national park is abundant in wildlife that congregates around the waterholes, giving you almost guaranteed game sightings. Etosha National Park is one of the most accessible game reserves in Namibia and Southern Africa.
3. Innsbruck, Austria
Three times host to the Winter Olympics, this region boasts nine ski areas for alpine skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing. Their winter sports menu also includes tobogganing, ice skating, alpine-style curling, and even a ride in an Olympic bobsleigh. In no other place in the world is the dividing line between an urban area and rugged mountain terrain so thin. The Nordkettenbahnen transports visitors directly from the city center of Innsbruck to high mountain terrain in just twenty minutes.
4. Nadi, Fiji
This bustling, multi-cultural town is the main hub for international travelers to Fiji. Skydiving, dune buggy driving, scuba diving, snorkeling, open-water shark diving, rafting, hiking, waterfall jumping, and golf can all be found within driving distance of the Nadi international airport. It is here that the lines between water and sky become blurred and having the blues is a good thing.
5. Southern California, USA
Similarly to Nadi, Southern California adventure is extreme. Do you want to fly a fighter jet, a biplane, a helicopter, or an airplane? You can do them all in SoCal. Maybe you’d prefer skydiving, dirt bike racing, or bungee jumping? Check, check, and check. Where else can you surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon? Southern California is an adventure seekers Paradise.
Very cool! I would love to go to Namibia.
It’s in the top five best places I’ve visited. Have you been anywhere in Africa, Johnny?

Good adventures 1 and 2 i can understand but the others are not on the top of my list…
California made the list because it’s my home, but also because there are more options here than anywhere else I’ve ever been. What countries would be on the top of your list?

There’s so much of the world to explore isn’t there! I haven’t been to any of your top five (other than a fleeting trip to Innsbruck when we were travelling in Europe. But, I love seeing them through your eyes…and I’d love to visit SoCal, or Namibia

Great adventures and it’s a tickle to see Southern California on the thrill list. I’ve been to Fiji twice but only to dive while in and out to boats and resorts. Would love to see more wildlife above sea level this year.

It’s hard to put a Top 5 list together…the world is way to big! But I like your list, thanks for the inspiration 😀

I love a good adventure, but flying a fighter jet takes adventure to a different level. I have got to get myself and my Top Gun loving husband to California. 🙂

Love that you included Southern California. It’s where I grew up and you’re right there are so many amazing things you can do no matter how adventurous you are.

Great destinations. I would go to any of them. Though we already spend too much time in Southern California for my taste.

Some great destinations here! Have only been to Southern California myself, so you’ve given me some great inspiration for my 2016 bucketlist with the rest! I would love to get to Innsbruck, Austria – haven’t tried my hand at any snow sports before, so sounds perfect!

A great selection of adventurous places to visit. So far, I have only ever been to Austria during the summer months, which is great for hiking and climbing but I have yet had the chance to return during the winter when the snow is on the ground. For me, I would love to visit Jordan, so many things to experience.
