Awesome list guys. My favorite is the dune buggy. I have been wanting to drive one since I was a little kid.

    1. Lesley says:

Fiji was a great place to do it. We had lots of water and muck so it made for a really fun run.

Have you tried a 4-wheeler or dirt bike? That can be pretty great too.

  2. Wow what a great list. Trekking Gorillas in Uganda is one of my dreams!

    1. Lesley says:

It was the most wild adventure of my life, João. I was surprised at how safe it was in Uganda. The people are friendly, the tours are fairly well priced, and the activities are unbelievable, including walking safaris, tree-climbing lions, trekking chimpanzees and gorillas & cultural experiences. Once you get there, it’s cheaper than doing an all-inclusive Caribbean resort.

What is one of your favorite adventures?

  3. Michele says:

This list is a great indicator of who I am. Thanks for the insights. See you in the water, air… not so much.

  4. most of those are on my ‘not in this lifetime’ bucketlist – but I would love to go dog sledging, go up in a hot air ballon and one or two others

    1. Lesley says:

What’s the number one thing on your adventure list, Fiona?

  5. Megsy says:

Well I’ve done 8 of your 30 – although not in the same destinations. I’ve been dying to go to Uganda for as long as I can remember! That’s totally number 1 bucket list item for me!

    1. Lesley says:

Uganda was an amazing experience with so much wildlife and unique encounters. Have been to to Africa yet?

  6. Wow some of those look so much fun! I’d love to do the dog sledding, they are such beautiful animals and anything involving apes and monkeys in the wild would be high on my list.

    1. Lesley says:

The gorilla and chimpanzee treks in Uganda were two of my favorite wildlife experiences. Uganda is filled with unique encounters. Have you ever been?

  7. Jennifer says:

Thank you for filling up my bucket list! I’m exhausted just looking at the pictures. Happy Travels

    1. Lesley says:

Have you tried any of them before? Which one would you like to try the most?

  8. Claudia says:

Oh ok, so you put together this post to make us all jealous, right? 🙂

    1. Lesley says:

I put together this list to encourage you. I hope that you found a few things you’d like to experience. Do you like extreme adventures or more calm ones?

  9. Inma says:

PLEASE tell me how can I get involved as well in the training tall ship to Antarctica. Please please please. Subscribing to the comments to hear back from you 😀

    1. Lesley says:

The ship is called Bark Europa. Every year, they sail to Antarctica. All of the passengers are either crew or training crew. It was the greatest travel adventure of my life. Here’s their link: https://www.barkeuropa.com/

  10. kami says:

I’d probably freak out to do most of these! But I did spend a night in Wadi Rum and it was pretty spectacular! Wouldn’t mind doing it again 🙂

    1. Lesley says:

Wadi Rum was a beautiful experience, wasn’t it? Did you stay with a Bedouin tribe? What else did you see in Jordan?

  11. Orana says:

These are so great! What a life! I like the last photo with the mud, perfect finish to a great run

    1. Lesley says:

Beautiful way to look at it. Ironically, this was one of the first adventures on this list. Which ones have you tried?

  12. Valeria says:

Ziplining and rafting have to be my favorite. I’ve never done the first one before, so this might be the year to try it!

    1. Lesley says:

Flying a biplane was in my top five favorites, Valeria. It was such a thrill. I might like it as much as skydiving. Have you been skydiving too?

  13. Some of those are way more hardcore than others! Sailing a tall ship to Antarctica for example… whew.

    1. Lesley says:

That was the greatest travel adventure of my life. From day one, we were hauling lines and learning the ropes. By day two, we were manning the helm. The journey was as great as the arrival. Have you been to Antarctica?

  14. I am SO jealous, you’ve had some AMAZING experiences! Such an inspiration!

  15. DaydreamBeliever says:

    OK Lesley,

I’m a middle aged grandpa, still supporting one of my children, her son, and two of one of my other children’s kids. I often dream of hopping on my bike to ride the country, and do damn near everything on the above list. I make decent money, and I have a little website that got 1K-5K unique visits a day (no link, this isn’t an ad).

My question to you, is how can I do these things, how can I afford these things that I NEED to do before I’m gone, without my family having to do without my income?

To skydive over the great lakes, to pilot an aircraft, to crawl into the belly of the earth on land and undersea. The “bucket” is getting smaller, but there’s so much left to do.

    1. Lesley says:

      Hi there!

I hardly know you but you sound like an amazing person who cares deeply for his family. I admire that.

  16. Nausheen says:

Simply amazing, i will be happy if i could accomplish at least five of these, thanks for the awesome list 🙂
