Sometimes you just need to feel the sand on your feet and the sun on your face, and then at night be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. Rather than dreaming it, we made it happen at Beach House Hotel in Hermosa Beach. It’s only a short drive from my home in Aliso Viejo but the miles of white sandy beaches and crashing waves were calling my name. Beach House Hotel is a boutique luxury beach hotel nestled in sunny Hermosa Beach between Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. It’s the ideal blend of relaxation and family-fun.
We checked into the hotel and I immediately fell in love with the view. With the patio door open, we could feel the beach vibe seeping into our room.
The room wasn’t huge but it had everything we needed to be completely self-sufficient. There was a king-size bed with a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Our room, which is the exact layout of all the rooms at Beach House Hotel, had a fireplace, two flat screen televisions, wireless Internet, a refrigerator, a small cook-top stove, a desk, and a separate tub and shower in the bathroom.
We brought food and drinks with us to maximize our time on the beach and at the hotel. Hermosa is a quaint town to explore with plenty of options for dining and entertainment but we wanted to focus on the beach.
I opened a bottle of wine, that was left as a treat from the hotel staff, and made my way to the patio. California truly is a remarkable place. The waves of calm washed over me. I took a few moments to reflect on all the beauty before hitting the beach with Athena. There were waves to jump and sandcastles to build.
The hotel provides beach chairs and sand toys so we utilized all that they have to offer. Add that to the sunscreen, sunglasses, wine, and chocolates that they left for us in the room and I couldn’t ask for anything more. As you can see, Athena was equally content. Her happy place is at the beach. She creates magical worlds in the sand and plays games in the waves that remind me how beautiful it is to be a child. The best part is that I get to be part of her imaginative play and see the world through her eyes. It always transforms into something I didn’t imagine possible.
We found the time to take advantage of the hot tub and the continental breakfast at the hotel, but it was difficult to step away from the beach. I would have slept right there on the sand if I could have. At night, we left the patio doors open and it almost felt like I was on the ocean. I could clearly hear the waves crashing and feel the salty air.
We love staying at hotels with a huge pool and plenty of restaurant choices. We also love staying at hotels that are located in the heart of a city so we can spend all of our time exploring and discovering new places. Sometimes, though, the craving for salty air and the sounds of the ocean are too great to ignore. Beach House Hotel in Hermosa Beach allowed me to satisfy all of my ocean cravings.
