If I had to choose an activity to do daily and it could be anything in the world, I’d choose being on the ocean in either a yacht or a sailboat. The smell of the ocean, the feel of the breeze on my face, and the sound of the waves come together to create Utopia. Last week, we had the opportunity to yacht in luxury aboard The Duchess. We cruised the coastline from Marina Del Rey to Malibu and back again while sipping wine, listening to music, and chatting with friends. I felt like Cinderella going to the ball, but at sea. Come aboard The Duchess with us for a four hour sunset cruise.
Captain Skip’s crew met us at Tahiti Way, Marina Del Rey and escorted us to the yacht. From beginning to end, it was a luxurious experience. Yachting, after all, is a lifestyle.
We were greeted with choices of wine, beer, and sodas as well as an assortment of Hors D’oeuvres while we took in the magic of the ocean on the deck of our choice.
Athena joined Captain Skip at the wheel and I marveled at the other boats in the marina. The weather was exceptional and we prepared for a lovely evening.
I sat back with a glass of wine, proud of Athena for being so friendly and excited to talk to the captain. Cord and Mike, a close friend of Cord’s, joined us for the evening and they found a comfortable spot on the front deck to enjoy our departure from the marina.
A pod of dolphins followed alongside the yacht as if on cue. The best spot to see them playfully jumping in the waves was at the front of the yacht so we gathered together to watch them perform.
Athena realized all of our attention was on the dolphins so she climbed on my lap to remind me that she was still the center of the world. She’s too cute to be annoying so we turned our sights to her beautiful face and played together while the crew served food and drinks on deck.
Cord and I found some time to be silly while Athena explored below deck with one of the crew. Anna was so good with Athena, it was like having a private nanny join us on the yacht.
Does life get any better than this? I couldn’t image it, but then the sun started to set and it was even more dreamy.
I took a quiet moment to soak in the gratitude I felt on The Duchess. Surrounded by friends and family while cruising the coastline of one of the most beautiful places in the world was my Cinderella moment.
A wave of calm washed over me when we set foot on The Duchess and it stayed with me long after we departed. It was a brief moment in time but it was last forever in my memory.
