I took a 2018 Mazda6 on a Cape Breton road trip and it comfortable and spacious, it has strong performance and notable technology, it’s exceptionally stylish, and it offers good fuel-efficiency. With comfort and technology, it was the best of both worlds for the beautiful Cape Breton road trip.
Cape Breton Road Trip in the Mazda6
The Mazda6 is perfect for small families, yet still stylish enough to turn heads. I don’t think there is any other color to go with other than the Soul Red Crystal Metallic. It’s offered in other colors but the red is so good looking that I don’t know why anyone would choose another color.
It’s so noticeable that people approached me multiple times during the trip to ask what make and model vehicle it is. I was in the grocery store parking lot in North Sydney, Nova Scotia when an elderly man approached me. He said, “that has to be the nicest looking car I’ve seen. What kind is it?” I was in Cape Breton and I know people can be friendly and chatty but he was genuinely interested in the car. He said he and his wife were in the market for a new car and they wanted something more sporty. After the traditional “Who’s your father?” stage that happens in Cape Breton until you find a local connection, I offered for him to take a look inside. He brought his wife over and they sat in the car together. They were so in love with the features and options that I had to do it. I offered to take them for a quick drive. Whether they buy a Mazda or not, it was fun to show them the features and have a real, down home, Cape Breton experience. Where else in the world do you feel comfortable enough to invite a stranger into your vehicle and take them for a ride? That’s what Cape Breton is like.
Cape Breton is so remarkable that it appears on our Canadian Bucket List Destinations
Not only does the car look good, but it offers all the features and technology that we desire for road trips and adventures. The front seats are wide and sculpted with thick padding to wrap around your body. The dual-zone climate controls and exceptional sound insulation make the drive enjoyable and the added features like USB ports in the back seat are perfect for kids or adults riding in the back seat. The ventilated front seat system was ideal for the warmest month in Cape Breton and the huge truck space allowed us to pack everything we needed for a week long trip to the island.
The 2018 Mazda6 doesn’t stop at comfort either. It’s packed with technology to keep you safe. The available suite of i-ACTIVSENSE safety features uses the latest innovations such as camera, radar, and laser technology to give you a better sense of your surroundings.
My favorite safety feature is the Mazda Radar Cruise Control. This system judges the relative speed and distance to the car ahead, right down to 0 km/hour, to maintain a safe following distance. For enhanced safety, if the vehicle ahead stops, your vehicle will automatically stop and hold in a standing start until you resume the set speed. The system’s Close Proximity Warning provides audible and visual warnings when it senses your vehicle fast approaching the one ahead.
Additionally, I think all vehicles should offer a 360° View Monitor like the 2018 Mazda6. Using four cameras on the front sides and rear, and eight parking sensors, the 360° View Monitor generates a surround view of the MAZDA6 from the top. An alarm sounds when near obstacles and also assists in monitoring blind spots.
The 2018 Mazda6 is the perfect size for our family of three, it offers all the safety features we love, and it looks amazing! What more could we ask for?
The new Mazda is beautiful!
They created a design simple a clean!
It’s a perfect car!
