Confidence and strength in who we are comes from our experiences and actions which solidify our character. I am raising a strong daughter who has a strong mind, a strong body, and a strong spirit. I recently found a Strong Moms = Strong Daughters long-sleeve tee-shirt and it really spoke to me. Watching Athena this last week has inspired me and made me realize just how strong and confident she is. There is nothing that makes me happier than watching her interact with others, accomplish her goals, and learn from her experiences and the experiences of others. She is the epitome of strong.
The Strong Moms = Strong Daughters long-sleeve tee can be purchased at Certantees. You can shop their designs in hoodies, short-sleeve tees, tank tops, youth sizes, and plus sizes, but if you’d rather have a shirt that shows off your own slogan, you can also create a personalized long-sleeve tee and 5% of every sale at Certantees will go towards a charity of your choice.
When I started wearing the tee, I took more notice of the strong daughter that I’m raising. She is creative and fun-loving. She loves to be outdoors and discover new adventures. I took her to the park on the weekend and her free-spirit really shined through. She spun on the playground equipment and let her head fall back to look up at the sky as she smiled at the world. I could see the pure joy on her face. Her smile was contagious.
Later that day, we went to a Sibling Class at the hospital designed for brothers and sisters between the ages of 7-10 expecting a newborn in the next three months. She quietly listened to the instructor and actively participated when it was time to try the activities like holding and diapering a baby. She didn’t get discouraged when she needed to adjust her technique and she practiced until she was confident. She thanked the instructor at the end of the class without being prompted and she cleaned up her space before leaving. She did it all with a smile on her face. Once again, I smiled back at her confidence and strength.
The next day, we attended a VIP event at PY1 called Stella – The Time Machine Journey. Stella – The Time Machine Journey is a 40-minute multimedia show that encourages kids and their families to move and dance in the biggest time machine ever built. At Stella, participation is key. Kids, and adults, were asked to sing, dance, hold hands, and express themselves through creative movement. Athena never backed down or hesitated. She was so bright and free that I noticed many other kids and adults watching her and mimicking her actions. Her light isn’t just contagious with family; it’s obvious and contagious with whomever she comes in contact.
I am expecting a newborn child in April. At first, I was terrified to have another baby and start all over again. Cord has always been my inspiration in knowing that I can handle being a mom to a newborn again. He has a calmness and willingness to participate that is reassuring. Watching Athena and the strong daughter that she has become is another positive boost of encouragement. With their support, we can all accomplish anything because strong moms and dads make strong children and strong children make us stronger.
