Why Wonder of the Seas is Perfect for Toddlers

Wonder of the Seas is Perfect for Toddlers

Royal Caribbean has an amazing fleet of cruise ships and each one has its own special flair. No matter which ship you choose to sail on, they are all filled with incredible opportunities. Our recent experience with Wonder of the Seas left us with no doubt that Wonder of the Seas is perfect for toddlers. Why? Check out our top reasons below and you’ll be packing your bags for a family-fun trip of your dreams.

Why Wonder of the Seas is Perfect for Toddlers

Adventure Ocean

Adventure Ocean Wonder of the Seas

There are many reasons why Wonder of the Seas is perfect for toddlers, but Adventure Ocean is the best.

The award-winning Adventure Ocean offers plenty of whimsical rooms to roam and dedicated programs for kids of all ages.

Royal Babies (6 to 18 months) and Royal Tots (18 to 36 months) offers interactive parent-and-child classes with a stay-and-play room. Activities include story time and playground sessions, plus age-appropriate toys and games.

The Royal Babies and Tots Nursery also offers drop-off group babysitting for an additional fee ($6/hour from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and $8/hour from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.), so that parents can have a bit of freedom to explore without kids.

Even though Max is almost two years old, we have only spent one date-night away from him since his birth.

All of that changed on Wonder of the Seas because of Adventure Ocean. They offer multiple programs ranging from babies, 6 to 36 months old, to kids, 12 years old.

Max was excited every time we walked into the Adventure Ocean area and he loved the staff so much that he reached for them when we entered the room. It made us feel so confident in their abilities with him that we utilized the program for at least an hour a day. It gave Cord and I much-needed time to be adults and enjoy our relationship outside of being parents. And it gave Max time to play and interact with other kids in a safe, fun, educational, and entertaining setting.

Victoria Ridley of High Seas Cruising felt the same way as we did:

On our last cruise we took advantage of the nursery to enjoy a romantic excursion. The onboard nursery allowed my partner and I to enjoy some quiet time away from our kids. The best part was knowing that our 3 year old would be properly cared for while we were away for the day.

There is no other experience on Wonder of the Seas that made us happier than Adventure Ocean. The staff at this remarkable kids club added to our trip exponentially.

Splashaway Bay

Splashaway Bay Wonder of the Seas

Featuring colorful waterslides, water cannons, fountains, pools, and whirlpools for tots to tweens, Splashaway Bay has endless possibilities.

There is a designated area for toddlers to play, and family activities can also be found in that area. We participated in steel drum playing that Max really enjoyed and he loved the gentle fountains and bright colors as well.

This area is ideally situated between the older kid play area and the big slides. If you have children of varied ages, or even adults that love the slides too, you can be in the center of it all.

Wonder Playscape

Wonder Playscape offers adventurers of all ages the opportunity to discover an underwater-themed world filled with slides, climbing walls, games, and puzzles with endless possibilities for their imaginations to soar.

Inside the cavern, kids will find an interactive mural of sea creatures that comes to life at their touch. Toddlers and their loved ones can put on their thinking caps to solve puzzles together as they explore this magical world.

As parents of 2 small daughters, A Rich And Jazzy Life, truly enjoyed Wonder Playscape.

We especially loved the Wonder Playscape because it gave an underwater world feel and it has slides, climbing walls, games and puzzles which gave our girls something to do other than swimming, definitely something we have not seen offered on any other ship.  ~ A Rich And Jazzy Life

And by night, fantastical lighting transforms the entire space into an otherworldly seascape.

Boardwalk

Boardwalk on Wonder of the Seas

The Boardwalk neighborhood is meant to evoke a feeling of the old seaside piers and the nostalgic boardwalks of the past. Located on the back of deck 6, it is an outdoor area that has dining and entertainment, and it excels in toddler-friendly activities.

As soon as you walk onto the Boardwalk, you will be greeted by a carousel. It’s a full-sized, traditional carousel and complimentary to ride. This is the centerpiece for toddler fun. Colorful and full of charm, this hand-carved treasure is a wonderful place for toddlers to hop on and go for a spin.

Climber area on Wonder of the Seas

Additionally, located at the end of the Boardwalk, is the Luckey Climber play area. Luckey Climber is a large climbing structure surrounded by a net, designed for kids to jump on and explore.

Luckey Climber was one of Max’s favorite spots to hop in and engage in the kind of climbing and discovery that all kids love.

Staterooms and Suite

When some quiet time is needed, staterooms and suites are a great place to relax and recharge.

If you’re looking to make your stay as bucket list worthy as your play on the ship, there’s the Ultimate Family Suite. It’s two stories of awesome thrills on every level. From your very own in-suite slide, an air hockey table, and table tennis on your balcony to your own Royal Genie who’s always ready to arrange exclusive access to the best of everything onboard, it’s the ultimate space for everyone in the family, especially your toddlers.

The only problem with the Ultimate Family Suite is it might be difficult to get your kids out of the room.

If you’re looking for a cozier experience, the balcony staterooms are the way to go. They have a toddler-friendly layout with a Peek A Boo tv channel just for kids. 24-hour room service is available and a daily stateroom attendant is dedicated to making sure your stay is spectacular. A crib and supplies to make your little one comfy are available upon request.
