San Antonio is a city bursting with culture, history, and excitement, making it the perfect destination for a quick family getaway. With just 48 hours in town, we made the most of our time using Go City passes, which gave us access to some of the best attractions San Antonio has to offer. Here’s how we packed in adventure, history, and thrills while keeping it stress-free and budget-friendly during our 48 hours in San Antonio with Go City passes.
Day 1: Wild Encounters, History & a River Cruise
Morning: San Antonio Zoo
We kicked off our day with a visit to the San Antonio Zoo, home to over 750 species from around the world. Max, my little explorer, was thrilled to see giraffes up close at the feeding station, while Athena loved the kangaroos. The zoo’s immersive exhibits made for an unforgettable morning.
Afternoon: San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site Tour

San Antonio Mission
Next, we stepped back in time on the San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site Tour. Walking through Mission San José and Mission Concepción, we marveled at the stunning Spanish architecture and learned about the deep historical significance of these sites. It was a fantastic way to blend history with adventure, and even Max, at four years old, enjoyed exploring the vast courtyards and stone archways.
Evening: GO RIO San Antonio River Cruise
As the sun began to set, we hopped on a GO RIO San Antonio River Cruise. Floating along the scenic San Antonio Riverwalk, we soaked in the city’s lively atmosphere and historic charm. The tour guide entertained us with fun facts and stories about the city, making this both a relaxing and educational experience.
Day 2: Cowboys, Thrills & Texas-Sized Fun
Morning & Early Afternoon: Six Flags Fiesta Texas
To start the day with an adrenaline rush, we headed to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. With roller coasters, live shows, and a splash-worthy water park, there was something for all of us. Athena was fearless, tackling the park’s biggest rides, while Max loved the kid-friendly attractions and interactive shows. We rode, screamed, and laughed our way through the park, making unforgettable memories before heading out in the afternoon.
Late Afternoon & Evening: Tejas Rodeo Company
As the sun dipped lower, we made our way to Tejas Rodeo Company for an authentic Texas experience. The kids got a firsthand look at the cowboy lifestyle, complete with dinner, rodeo action, and even a chance to try a mechanical bull. The excitement of the rodeo was contagious, and after the main event, we stuck around for some fantastic live country music. The energy, the atmosphere, and the incredible Texas food made this the perfect way to wrap up our trip.
